Easily Setup Facebook Connect – webShaper

Facebook is about Engagement

Some clients & prospects check with us whether we have the “new facebook feature” yet, as provided by some of our competitors.

Basically this is what the feature does – when merchant upload new products on the webStore, the products list are updated on the facebook page (wall) too.

Questions is, does it  make sense?

We give it a long & hard thought, It does make sense, if and only if you only upload 1  or 2 products at one time.

What happens if you upload a 10 or more  new products (which is pretty common for most merchants)? so it will become something like this below:

 

 

Now, let’s put yourself in a consumer’s shoes, would you even bother LIKE SUCH FACEBOOK PAGE ?

The answer is obvious, it looks like a spammy product page where people will avoid like a plague, and worse, with only one way communication aka ZERO ENGAGEMENT. The chances of your post appearing on your prospects or consumers wall is pretty dim.

That’s NOT how you are going to make your customer love you more (so they will buy even more !)

Now, let’s take a look just a few perfect examples by our wonderful clients. They shows us what engagement is all about.  Try see how many comments & like they are getting for their facebook wall posting.

 


 

so, the key is Engagement, by selectively hand pick the topic,  content, promo,  or product which will spur interest, get feedback, excite them to participate, is what Facebook does best. and is what every online merchants should be doing.

Today, most people visit facebook to connect with friends, to checkout fren’s photo, to see what their friends or families up too. Very few of them are in the mood or buying stuff, period.  Hardsell on product list just WON”T WORK.

So it’s time to rethink how you market your page and how you plan to reconnect with your fans / clients with heart!

On last note, We think, deciding on what NOT to do, is far more important than what to do.  It’s way to easy to fall into a trap by trying to be everything everybody else  did (esp competitors).  We just have to say, no, we are so-not going to build this. :) Have a great weekend ahead.

1) Stock holding

Normally a stock quantity is deducted ONLY when a you have a payment confirmation on the order (aka status = “processed”). However, some of  the merchants  want to deduct the stock quantity even though payment yet to be received. Thus we introduce Stock Holding Status – Basically it “holds” the stock, while awaiting payment confirmation when the order status is still  “pending“.

 

Enable Stock Holding in webShaper > Settings > Inventory

 

2) Custom Form Fields

(Advanced feature for bizStore only!) – Now you can get more information about your customers as you would like! Eg, if you are selling fashion online, you might want to  know more about your customer’s sizes  (aka BUST, WAIST, HIP), or you probably want to know about their favourite colours or pets too! These are very useful information which you can utilize to offer more relevant deals (thus sell more) or to personalize certain marketing campaign targeting to specific clients only!

Let’s focus on the easiest way to start:

Step 1 – Decide your blog url

A good and easy name would be BLOG.yourwebstore.com

once you have decided on the blog url, let us know.

we will setup a CNAME record point to blogspot.com (ghs.google.com)

Step 2 – Setup your subdomain

Login to blogspot.com with your username / password, then go to Settings > Publishing

Underneath Advanced Settings, put your domain as

blog.yourwebstore.com

Step 3…

PayPal FAQs for Online Shop Sellers

Here we compile a list of FAQs for all the new e-commerce merchant & online sellers using PayPal to take payments, if you find it useful, please link from your blog, or share it on facebook or twitter!

Q) What is the maximum amount I can withdraw from PayPal to my bank account?
A) Officially, there’s no upper limit. However, if you transfer funds below a certain amount, there might be a surcharge.

Eg for Malaysia online merchants, if the amount transferred is less than RM400, you will be charged RM3.00.  for Singapore online merchants, if the amount transferred is less than SGD 200, you will be charged SGD1.00. For US Merchants, regardless of the mounts being transferred, it’s always FREE!

Check the PayPal withdrawal fee (to your bank account)


Q) Do i need a PayPal Premier or Business account to sell online?
A) Yes, you can start with either a premier or business account. But we always recommend a business account for merchants with a proper company setup. (Interesting read: Should Malaysia Business Register with ROC?)

Q) How do i do refund via PayPal?
A): Very simple! PayPal let online merchants do a 60-Days Full Refund (at no additional charges, period) for any transaction!


Q) If I use Paypal to take credit card payment, would my customers need to have a Paypal account to buy from my online shop?
A) Great question! Yes and No. It really depends on a lot of factors (your client IP address, country-of-origin, credit card issuing bank, amount of transaction, time, devices etc).

But general rule of thumb is, if your customers don’t have PayPal account, and their purchases exceed a certain amount (let’s say, USD $ 100), PayPal might require an account creation before the transaction can goes through.


Q) How much is the transaction fee for PayPal?
A) Since PayPal is Global, in short, it normally divides its fee into Domestic (Local) vs Cross-border

Eg if you are Malaysia Merchants, below is the Domestic Fee (Local) when someone in your country pay you in RM

Q) On the payment page, what would my customers see? Do they see a page where they can simply enter their credit cardnumber (and Paypal takes care of the transaction “behind the scene”)? Or dothey see a page with a Paypal button, and they would have to click on the button, which leads to an external Paypal page?
A)  Another good question. means you know how this works. :) the 2nd one is what your customer will see. The “behind the scene” processing is called PayPal Website Payment Pro and it is only available for US Merchants only.

Q) If i have more then 1 website of e-commerce. Does that means i’ve open few more paypal a/c for each individual website? or there is a way that i can link it all together?

A) You can use the same PayPal account for all the different eStore. But take note it might create confusion as client will get email notification which the domain is different from your existing webStore.

Eg your customer might be buying at www.abc.com but getting payment email notification from paypal@xyz.com.

 


Q) Does PayPal Accept Amex? 

A) Yes it does. however, PayPal only accept USD currency via Amex, if your customer trying to checkout in any other currency (eg GBP, MYR, SGD etc), they won’t be able to complete the transaction successfully.

Payment Gateways Update

iPay88 merchants will love this, as we will be the first webStore service to roll out the “ipay88 delay callback notification functionality”, so any delayed in bank notification to ipay88, won’t result in payment status not being updated. Additionally, we have added a new payment gateway too call Smoov Pay.
